Hi there! I’m Dr. Katie DuFrirsz. I am currently completing my neurology residency at University of South Dakota Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I went to medical school at St. George’s University, in Grenada, completing my clinical years in New York City, and recently graduating in 2024. Prior to starting residency, I did a year fellowship in neurocritical care/stroke at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I recently completed the Level 1 Certification in aesthetic medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, and am looking forward to adding these skills to my practice while I complete my neurology training.
I plan on starting my own practice upon graduation from residency. This is going to be a direct care/concierge practice model. Basically, this means that I will not be working with insurance companies, but I will be doing my best to provide affordable, customized care without the hassle of outside entities limiting what I can offer. I understand the current economy has everyone concerned about money, so I plan on offering payment plans for those who qualify. Also, I have found that by getting rid of a lot of the excess paperwork and middle-men, the overall cost of providing services is much more reasonable for myself and my patients.
The best part of deciding to choose this type of practice model is that I am able to provide the kind of care that I grew up dreaming of, and can actually be the kind of physician previous generations had. I can provide longer appointments, quicker availability, and thoroughly individualized care that seems impossible to find today. I will always have time set aside for acutely sick patients, and will be able to get new patients seen within 1-2 weeks at most. I will charge per appointment/per service or procedure, so you will never end up paying for more than you need. For those looking for frequent communication and struggling with complex medical issues, I will also offer concierge services which involve flat monthly fees, but this allows for unlimited appointments and direct messaging with responses within 24 hours. I can offer customized solutions for those looking for something in between.
I plan on also offering second opinions and providing medical testimony to any cases that require an expert opinion in neurology, and anywhere else I can be of service.
